In the discussion about anger and passion and not appearing angry, I believe the word they were looking for is “firmness” (to speak with passion and firmness). Perhaps another word is “conviction”, especially when it comes to making moral arguments. Like when Soldiers firmly defend their lines in preparation for an eventual, yes, “breakout”. A conviction that they will win. Not looking and sounding academic, but convincing.
