The Golden Rule has been used badly and caused much pain, especially telling fibs against Jews, a premise canonised in the 3rd century. Doing unto others what is good for you, is not always good. What if one is a vegan?
Try this:
“What is not good to you – do not unto others.’
Think about it.

Slipping a bit of eastern thought into conversation me thinks.
The Golden Rule is: ‘Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.’ Your suggestion of “What is not good to you – do not unto others.’ looks like it is intended to be just a more esoteric version, and that’s fine with me.
ladewoodbob,
I like your use of “esoteric” for Joseph’s negative version of the golden rule, but you may wish to think more deeply on that. For there is a worldview the believes it is good for a person to kill others and take their property, enslave their children, rape their wife’s, and I would hope that’s not ok with you. Whereas “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” would preclude such evil.
Jaime,
Firstly, my name is Wayne, former police
