That was very moving, Jamie – the continued “Stockholm Syndrome that has entrapped Janet Jackson. Personally, I think if she had taken the opportunity to speak out at this widely publicized – and watched – awards show, she would probably be on a hit list and would have to keep looking over her shoulder forever! On the other hand, that phrase, “Every faith must be respected” was an unnecessary sop to the man – and system – that kept her entrapped for 5 years! But, as you say, just a sad – and disappointing! – situation all the way around!
I agree with you but how could she have fallen into that trap. Didn’t she know anything about islam and sharia. What an idiot
Bonnie, your attitude is one of overweening hubris that serves nobody well- not even you. You could learn something by listening to Jamie’s message about Janet with a more discerning ear.
People routinely get into relationships that turn out to be mistakes. Well not all relationships in life are going to work out the way one might hope.
It is disappointing that Janet declined a golden opportunity, perhaps to protect her own position in life, o stand up for other women who suffer far worse oppression than she experienced. But getting involved with her ex-husband,, while unwise, does not make her an “idiot”.
“Sinead O’Connor’s Islamic Odyssey” when God caals us back will he blame us for not correcting Sinead or for not loving her enougb? I do not have the answer, but I know that it takes love to dare take off the mask.
