Mass demonstrations in America has declined sharply because Americans, especially right wing and clear thinking Americans, understand that our government and leftist instigators easily turn the demonstration against the real cause and the real demonstrators, resulting in net harm to the cause and demonstrators.
January 6 is a perfect example, but there are many examples. This decline started decades ago, for example, the Vietnam War Moratorium marches, where behind millions of peace-loving and peaceful marchers were Black Panthers and Red Diaper Babies throwing rocks and fire bombs at police, which led to police on horseback tramping demonstrators, tear gas, helicopters overhead with mounted machine guns, and walls of buses nose-to-tail around buildings with police stomping anyone who dared crawl under or over the buses.
Today, mass public demonstrations only work when the government and mainstream media support the cause and the demonstrators; for example, look at the difference between the government’s allowed January, 2017 inauguration protest march (pink-pussy-hats and all) at Donald Trump’s inauguration, compared to the government-enforced denial of any January, 2021 demonstration against Joe Biden’s inauguration. A demonstration counter to their narrative will be turned against the cause.
A new and different way to protest must be created, a well organized tax-payer revolt, for example, to withhold funds from government. Or a Constitutional Convention.
Government is daring Americans to begin armed mass demonstrations so that government tyrants can come down hard on the demonstrators, enforce martial law, open gulags, and confiscate guns.
